Given a Kodak Instamatic camera at the age of 10, everything caught Joy Daunis' eye and she photographed it. But it was not until a few years ago that she took any formal classes to hone her enthusiasm. Landscapes, travel pictures and especially pictures of children and friends and family fill her photo albums and those of her friends.

Raised as a Navy child, she attended college in Washington, D.C., where she never tired of photographing the city, and especially the monuments. While working for a congressman, this love of taking pictures was utilized to set up photography tours for groups visiting the "Hill."

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Joy became a publicist at Lorimar Productions and used her skills to work with the still photographers on such shows as Dallas, Knots Landing and Movies of the Week.

Her next job at Mattel Toys prompted Joy to take her work with her to such vacation spots as the Grand Canyon, where she would set up a Hot Wheels track close to the edge of the canyon and let the cars rip through the track with the sun rising or setting in the background.

Converted almost completely to digital a year ago, Joy has discovered a new kind of freedom to explore with the camera outside of the darkroom, as seen through the images presented in this exhibit.
